World No-Tobacco - May 31st
Every ten seconds, somewhere in the world, tobacco kills another victim. If current smoking trends continue, this toll will increase up to one tobacco-caused death every three seconds over the next three and four decades. Every year the World Health Organization invites people all over the world to focus on issues related to tobacco or health on this special day, May 31, which has been designated by the World Health Assembly as World No-Tobacco Day.
The New Brunswick Lung Association provides a great deal of information on public awareness and education. It also uses this forum to highlight our programs to date and our objectives for the next year as well as to advocate for smoke-free public places.
Throughout the years, the New Brunswick Lung Association has been the leader in developing new, innovative and exciting activities during National Non-Smoking Week (NNSW). The New Brunswick Lung Association is one of the oldest not for profit health charities in Canada , whose mandate is to improve respiratory health and to provide tobacco related education programs and activities. Times are changing, and this has lead to the creation of new, innovative and motivating activities. Therefore, the Lung Association has adapted to the changes and continued to deliver high quality programs.
Each year the association adds new ideas that create community awareness and participation. Any one interested in volunteering or creating their own projects would be most welcome.
