Press Release- New Vape Restrictions & Youth Vaping Rates

The New Brunswick Lung Association is happy to announce that Bill 63 has passed the third reading and received royal assent in the New Brunswick Legislature, on June 11, 2021.

Vaping among youth and young adults is an epidemic in our province. Currently 1 in 5 New Brunswick middle-and high-school aged youth vape which can lead to life-long nicotine addictions and associated health risks. Until recently, vaping was easily accessible and attractive to youths, with a wide selection of flavours of vape juice including menthol, berry, mango, and cotton candy. Recent research indicates that youth prefer flavoured vape juice, and more than half of the youths surveyed say they would no longer vape if flavoured juice was not an option.
