Environment ministers announce new standard for sulphur dioxide

October 3 - 2016. The Lung Association has been working with the federal government and other stakeholders to develop a new outdoor air quality standard for Sulphur Dioxide. The Lung Association is very pleased to let everyone know that Canada now has a new outdoor air quality standard for Sulphur Dioxide. These emissions are linked to respiratory health problems, particularly for children and adults with asthma, and environmental impacts such as acid rain and smog. This new standard should help to improve air quality in many regions of the Country and improve lung health.
