SIMPLE Driver Stewardship Program

The SIMPLE Driver Stewardship Program is designed to educate youth on basic driving habits and maintenance tips. SIMPLE is an acronym for the six key behaviours that can help increase fuel efficiency, decrease polluting vehicle emissions, and save money.
Student Involvement
Are you a student interested in making a difference to air qulity and climate change? Become a Youth Ambassador to the SIMPLE Driver Stewardship Program! Click for details
The program is ideal for students who are part of an environmental club, are taking environmental science, or who are interested in community involvement and leadership. The youth learn about the SIMPLE actions through a presentation, and then have the opportunity to spread the word to their peers by conducting their own presentation, having a display booth, etc. A kit with the PowerPoint presentation, speaking notes, handouts, and other materials s provided to each group. Key to the program is that the youth have their peers commit at least one action through a pledge form.
Benefits to Student Volunteers
Students taking part work closely with the New Brunswick Lung Association program coordinator, and gain:
• Knowledge about how human behaviours such as driving can impact our health and environment, and how to minimize those impacts.
• Presentation, organization, and leadership skills
• A rewarding volunteer experience that will enhance applications for employment, post-secondary education, and scholarships.
